Packard Model 115-C 1937

In the 1930s, the Packard Automobile Company, struggling with a market impacted by the 1929 stock market crash, reintroduced the Packard Six for the 1937 model year. This mid-size family car aimed to increase Packard’s market share in a highly competitive segment that included Oldsmobile, DeSoto, LaSalle, and others. The Packard Six offered distinctive styling and excellent reliability. The one presented here was delivered new to the Jenkins Motor Co. in Cartersville, Georgia, and was kept by the original owner until the late 1960s. It was then restored in 1979 by Mr. James B. Wagnon Jr. of Chatanooga, Tennessee. This complete body-off restoration included many new parts and the restoration of others. The vehicle has been sparingly used since and looks exceptional for nearly fifty years. Recent maintenance includes the replacement of the water pump, fuel pump, carburetor, and new whitewall tires. The electrical system has been updated to 12 volts for starting power, while the system voltage has been limited to 7.8 volts for the original instruments and lighting. This well-preserved Packard Six is an easy driver that comfortably maintains speeds of 55+ mph. Its interior, including a spacious backseat, offers a unique and comfortable driving experience.
